Taking the children to Cambodia? Every member of the family needs their own e-Arrival Card, babies included, and every card has to match its own passport. Here is how British families get them all filed correctly, plus what to check on children’s passports first.

Yes. Every traveller flying into Cambodia files their own e-Arrival Card under their own passport, and that includes children. A British family of four files four cards, each with its own QR code. A parent completes each child’s card using the child’s own passport details. Each child needs their own visa too.
Cambodia is a wonderful family destination: the temples of Angkor feel like a real-life adventure to children, and the south coast is an easy beach finish. The paperwork is straightforward too, once you know the one rule that matters for families. The Cambodia e-Arrival Card belongs to a passport, not to a booking.
That means a parent’s card does not cover the children, the way a single booking reference covers everyone on the flight. However many passports your family travels on, that is how many e-Arrival Cards you need. Two parents and two children is four cards. Bring a grandparent and it is five.
Babies travel on their own British passports, so plan on a card for them too. Cambodia does not publish a separate rule for infants, and we file a card for every traveller in a party, babies included, because each one travels on their own passport.
Before you apply for any visas or file any cards, get every passport out and check the expiry dates. UK child passports are issued for five years rather than ten, so they run out sooner, and it is easy to lose track of when a child’s passport was last renewed. Each passport should be valid for at least six months beyond the date you enter Cambodia and have at least one blank page.
If a child needs a new passport, get it before you do anything else. The visa and the e-Arrival Card are both tied to the passport number, so a card filed on an old passport will not match the one the child actually travels on.
Children in the same family may also have different surnames, or a child may carry a surname different from one parent. That is fine: each card simply uses the name exactly as it appears in that child’s own passport.
The child’s. A parent fills in the form, but every identity field comes from the child’s passport: their full name exactly as printed, their passport number, their date of birth and their nationality. The travel details will usually match yours, because you are travelling together.
The most common family mistake is copy and paste. When you file four cards in a row, the fields that change from card to card, the name, passport number and date of birth, are exactly the ones that get left behind from the previous card. Check those three against the passport in your hand before you submit each one.
Copy from the documents, not from memory or old booking confirmations.
Cards can only be filed within 7 days of your arrival date in Cambodia. Aim for 2 to 4 days before you fly.
Oldest to youngest works well, so nobody is missed or done twice.
Compare name, passport number and date of birth with the passport in front of you before submitting.
Save each code under the traveller’s name and print a set to keep with the passports.
Or let us do it: you can start your e-Arrival application for the whole family in one order, priced per traveller, and we check each card against that person’s passport before filing it.
Most British families travel in the school holidays. Christmas and February half-term fall in Cambodia’s cooler, drier months of November to February, and October half-term comes at the tail end of the rainy season. School holiday trips are often booked a long way ahead, but the e-Arrival Card cannot be filed until the final week, which tends to be the busiest week of term.
That is the gap a filing service fills. Book the cards with us whenever suits you, and we hold the details and file every card the moment your window opens, then email you the QR codes. You do not have to remember it in the middle of end-of-term concerts and packing.
Our Cambodia arrival card service is priced per traveller in US dollars, with the sterling equivalent on your statement: $20 Standard (24 hours), $35 Rush (2 hours) or $60 Super Rush (15 minutes). We do not need a photo, and free resubmission is included if Immigration flags a correction.
If you file with us and have not booked onward travel yet, our form lets you say “not booked yet” and we email you to add it later.
British passport holders need a visa for Cambodia, and that applies to children as well. Visas are not shared between parents and children, so each child needs their own, matched to their own passport. Sort the visas first, at least a week before you fly, and file the e-Arrival Cards last.
Our guide to the Cambodia visa for UK citizens covers the options. You can apply for the Cambodia eVisa online for each member of the family: Tourist $80 USD per traveller, approved in 3–5 days and delivered by email.
After a long journey from the UK with a connection on the way, nobody wants to scroll through a phone looking for the right QR code while a toddler melts down. A few habits make the immigration desk quick.
