Yes. Every German citizen travelling to Cambodia in 2026 requires both a valid visa and a separate Cambodia e-Arrival Card when flying into Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, or Sihanoukville. Here is how both documents work, what they cost, and when to apply before your flight from Frankfurt or Munich.

Yes. German passport holders require a visa to enter Cambodia for tourism or business, and every air traveller must also file a Cambodia e-Arrival Card within 7 days before landing. Most German visitors apply online for the $80 USD Tourist eVisa (approved in 3–5 days) and submit their e-Arrival QR code before boarding.
If you are travelling to Cambodia on a German passport (Reisepass) in 2026, you cannot enter visa-free. Although Germany holds one of Europe’s most widely accepted passports and enjoys visa-free entry into neighbouring Thailand and Vietnam for short stays, Cambodia requires every ordinary German passport holder to hold a valid visa.
Just as importantly, a visa alone is no longer the only pre-departure step for air travellers. Since 2024, Cambodia has replaced its paper immigration slip, health form, and customs declaration with the digital Cambodia e-Arrival Card (CeA). Whether you fly out of Frankfurt (FRA), Munich (MUC), Berlin (BER), or Zürich and connect via Bangkok, Singapore, Doha, or Taipei, you will need two separate approvals ready on your phone when you land: your Cambodia eVisa and your e-Arrival QR code.
You can review the full visa breakdown on our dedicated Cambodia visa page for German citizens, or read on to see how the eVisa and the 7-day e-Arrival Card fit together for a 2026 itinerary.
German travellers can either apply online for a Cambodia eVisa before leaving Europe or queue for a Visa on Arrival at a Cambodian international airport. After a 13-to-16-hour journey from Germany, arriving with an approved eVisa is by far the faster option.
The Type T Tourist eVisa covers holidays to Angkor Wat, Phnom Penh, Kampot, Koh Rong, and the Mekong region. It is valid for 90 days from issue and grants a 30-day single-entry stay. Through our service, the Tourist eVisa is $80 USD all-in, approved in 3–5 days, and emailed as a PDF with no passport photo needed.
For commercial meetings, site inspections, NGO work, or longer stays that you plan to extend locally inside Cambodia, select the Type E Business eVisa. It costs $90 USD through our service, is approved in 3–5 days with no photo required, and grants an initial 30-day stay.
German citizens remain eligible for Visa on Arrival at Cambodia’s airports, but it requires queuing at a separate counter before Immigration and paying in crisp US dollar banknotes (euro notes and German girocard cards are not accepted). With an eVisa, you go straight to Immigration.
You can apply for your Cambodia eVisa online in a few minutes, or check another passport in your group with our eligibility checker.
Before submitting your eVisa or e-Arrival Card, check your German Reisepass against Cambodian border rules:
Wait for a new passport before applying: Both your Cambodia eVisa and e-Arrival Card are tied to your exact passport number. If you are renewing your Reisepass at your Bürgeramt, wait until the new passport arrives before filing.
An approved eVisa does not replace the Cambodia e-Arrival Card. The eVisa is your permission to enter Cambodia, while the e-Arrival Card is your mandatory arrival, health, and customs declaration filed within the 7 days before landing.
New in 2026, the e-Arrival form requires your departure date from Cambodia and your next destination, alongside your flight number and Cambodian hotel address. If you file with us and have not booked onward travel yet, our form lets you say “not booked yet” and we email you to add it later.
We can handle your Cambodia e-Arrival Card filing from start to finish: submit your details whenever you book your trip, and we hold your application until your 7-day window opens, check every field against your German passport, and email your QR code. We do not need a photo.

Most German travellers fly from Frankfurt, Munich, or Berlin with one stop in Bangkok, Singapore, Doha, Dubai, or Ho Chi Minh City. On your e-Arrival Card, always enter the final connecting flight number that lands in Cambodia.
All Phnom Penh flights now land at Techo International Airport (KTI), which offers automated smart gates for eligible passports.
Flights for Angkor Wat land at Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (SAI). Save your eVisa PDF and e-Arrival QR code offline before landing.
All overland border crossings between Thailand and Cambodia (including Poipet and Cham Yeam) have been closed since 2025. Travellers moving between Bangkok and Cambodia must fly into KTI or SAI.
Travelling with family? We file a card for every traveller in a party, babies included, because each one travels on their own passport. See our guide to the e-Arrival Card for families and children for tips.
